Friends of NISAU #FriendsofNISAU
It has been five years since the birth of the National Indian Students & Alumni Union UK. Unbelievable! We are so incredibly proud. We have come such a long way in such a short space of time. What started a mere five years ago as a unity project has grown exponentially today to have our affiliates in all four countries of the United Kingdom, with affiliates in more than 25 universities; and in India.
Today we collaborate with many governmental and non-governmental organisations, working passionately towards our goal of furthering the UK India relationship through its students and youth. The educational partnership between the two countries is a key pillar of this special relationship. Many Indian students who studied in the UK have gone on to become leaders across many fields, both in India and elsewhere globally. It is our ambition to make this partnership go from strength to strength and enable an ecosystem that allows for this young Indian diaspora to contribute to India's socio- economic development both when they are studying and/or working in the UK, and when they eventually return to India. Equally we wish to nurture this talented pool of youngsters and enable them to become India's brand ambassadors wherever they go. The world needs to realise the strengths and opportunities in contemporary India, and the young talent of India that goes abroad to study and work is perfectly suited to be its soft power. It is this soft power that we seek to nurture and provide a platform to engage with India in meaningful ways that can allow them to transfer their expertise, best practice knowledge and their creativity.
In 2017, NISAU celebrates its fifth anniversary, and we are lucky that this special moment for us coincides with the UK India Year of Culture.
To celebrate this special moment, the NISAU is launching the Friends of NISAU. Through this special initiative, we will be joining hands with some very special personalities who can help us drive the next phase of growth for NISAU. We will be seeking their help across all aspects of NISAU's growth including our strategy ahead, our operational functioning, partnerships and collaborations, and more.
Throughout the UK India Year of Culture, we will announce these personalities and seek their guidance and support to drive continuous improvement across all aspects of our services, and in how we can support our communities better.
